PKKF announces teams for South Asian Games

KARACHI Jan 12 : Pakistan Kho-Kho Federation (PKKF) has announced men’s and women’s teams for the upcoming 12th South Asian Games 2016 set to take place in the Indian city of Guwahati and Shillong from February 5-16.

Shabbir Ahmed will lead the men’s team while Hina Rafiq Rajput has been named as the women’s team captain.

The squads and their captains were selected after trials held here at the Custom’s Sports Complex. The trials were held after a 15-day camp where players were trained by Indian coach Dr. Syed Asghar Ali, who was sent by the Indian Kho Kho Federation.

Director Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Karachi Centre Rafiq Peerzada and Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) representative Asif Azeem observed trials and later selected the two teams.

Men’s team consists of Shabbir Ahmed (captain), Tariq Khan (vice captain), Zahid Ghaffar, Wasim Jaffri, Kashif A Farooqi, Shahroz Alvi, Farrukh Kamal, Husain Ahmed, Abdul Basit, Nasir Ali, Syed Muhammad Sajjad and Manzoor Hasan. Akhtar Ali will be the coach of the team while Noushad Ahmed will be manager.

Women’s team consists of Hina Rafiq Rajput (Captain), Batool Kazim (Vice Captain), Mahwish Farooqi, Tahira Yasmin, Rahila Shaikh, Shaista, Iffat Batool, Maryam Kherio, Sana Rajput, Syeda Farzeen Ahsan, Samirah Masih and Humaira. Muhammad Arif Hafeez will be the coach of the team while Dr. Arbila Suhail Agha will accompany the team as manager.
