Powers given to local governments by Musharraf were unconstitutional: Jam Khan Shoro

HYDERABAD May 18: Sindh Local Government Minister Jam Khan Shoro has said if someone wants to bypass Sindh government’s power certainly they will not be allowed. He was was talking during an exclusive interview by The Sindh Times. He further said that the demand of getting same power given by Musharraf government is illegal and unconstitutional because they delegated them the constitutional powers of the Sindh government. They funded them directly and as a result everybody saw that even the public  parks were auctioned. The china cutting issue were surfaced. There was no any check and balance which resulted in massive fund misuse. He further said that PPP government has given powers to the local bodies as per law but they demand the powers of Sindh government which is certainly not possible.  All over the world the local councils work under provincial governments, the guardian governments are provincial governments. Now  if someone thinks to bypass Sindh government’s it is impossible. Responding to a question regarding development works in the capital city he said that PPP is executing S3 and K4 projects. Garbage lifting projects are also being executed by the PPP government. He said that clean Karachi is on the priority of the provincial government. He said that those who are criticizing just for nothing and they did not do anything for the people of Karachi and they never addressed even the major issues of the city.
