Anger spreads across Sindh over Zainab’s murder; justice demanded

HYDERABAD Jan 12: Activists of different social and political organisations, students, teachers and lawyers took out rallies and held demonstrations in several Sindh towns on Thursday, demanding justice for Zainab, seven-year-old victim of rape and murder of Kasur, Punjab, and exemplary punishment to her tormentor.

In Hyderabad, the protesters belonging to Qaumi Awami Tehreek, Sindhi Sha­gird Tehreek, Sujag Bar Teh­reek, Child Protection Wel­fare Unit, Social Welfare Department, Sehar Welfare Tanzeem, Sindh University’s department of criminology, Pakistan Youth Council, Hyderabad News Camera­men Association, Justice Lawyers Forum and others gathered outside the press club and shouted slogans against Kasur police and Punjab government.

A large number of orphans and special children of Child Protection Unit took out a rally from Bunder Road to the press club and activists of PPP and district bar association held separate demonstrations against the Kasur incident.

PPP women wing activists led by Shaista Khoso held a demonstration outside the press club while PPP leaders of Sukkur chapter held a candlelit vigil.

Scores of citizens, notables and children under the banner of Mirpurkhas Citizen Forum held a demonstration outside the press club against rape and brutal murder of Zainab.

Tehreek Nifaz-i-Fiqh-i-Jafria leader Syed Adil Hasnain Zaidi and Shah Latif Foundation’s Kaleemullah Jalbani condemned the rape and murder of Zainab in Kasur and said the brutal crime was unforgivable.

Activists of Shah Sachal Saami Wel­fare Association, Child Rig­hts Advocacy Network, Naw­ab­shah Disability For­um and journalists held separate demonstrations outside the press club, demanding justice for Zainab.

A large number of social activists including journalists took out a rally and staged a demonstration against the rape and brutal murder of Zainab in Kasur.
