SC to announce verdict in Imran, Tareen disqualification case today

ISLAMABAD Dec 15: The Supreme Court will announce its verdict in the disqualification case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Secretary General Jahangir Tareen today (Friday).

As per details, a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Umer Ata Bandial and Justice Faisal Arab will announce the judgment at 2pm today, which had been reserved earlier on November 14 after hearing arguments from both sides.

The petition, filed by PML-N’s Hanif Abbasi, seeks for the disqualification of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and PTI Secretary General Jahangir Tareen for the non-disclosure of assets, ownership of offshore companies, and for PTI being a foreign-aided party.

Abbasi has accused Imran Khan of violating the Income Tax Ordinance (ITO) 1979 by not declaring his offshore company (Niazi Services Limited) in his statement of assets and liabilities submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan while filing his nomination papers for contesting different general elections, including that of 2013.
