400 KP policemen suspended, 3200 punished during one year: DIG

PESHAWAR Feb. 12: Deputy Inspector General of Police Mubarak Zeb has said that 400 policemen have been suspended after necessary inquiry, whereas 3200 have been given punishments in accordance with rules of law during last one year.

 

Expressing views at a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa radio programme “Nan Saba”, he informed that 4343 police officials have been deputed across the province at various blockade and check posts for maintenance of public order in provincial metropolis. In 2013, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) was created and today it was working efficiently in the province, he said.

 

He said that a proper database to register rented houses has been collected and over 1000 houses in Hayatabad Township have been registered. Similarly seven training centers and Rapid Response Force (RRF) have been established in eleven districts. He said that confidence of people on police have been increased after resolving domestic issues under Dispute Resolution Programme.

 

He said that introduction of Online First Information Report (FIR) registration has enabled each and every citizen to lodge complaint from any part of the province. He said that online FIR is properly verified and the concerned police official visits the complainant personally for launching investigations. DIG said that easy access to police has been made through SMS system that would also help reducing crime rate.

 

He said that complaints against police officials can also be lodged through the same system adding complainant was also informed regarding the action. He said that though provincial police force has not been increased as compared to increase in crime ratio but result oriented steps have been taken to enhance performance and efficiency of police. Rejecting the political influence in police department, he said that there is required procedure for the recruitment and transfer from constable to SP level that has been fully implemented in a transparent way.

 

Regarding induction of retired army personnel in police department, he said that they are recruited on need basis for training purposes and their services have been hired on contract basis for a limited period. District inspector general HQs said that facility of Android phone has been provided for the protection of schools against militancy and record of hotels and guest houses has also been completed.

 

He said that modern investigation system has been introduce in which more than 500,000 fingerprints of suspected persons have been collected for conducting proper probe. He said that despite limited resources performance of police department has increased and the recent steps would equip our police with contemporary investigation equipment.
