World Hepatitis Day marked in Shikarpur

SHIKARPUR Jul 28: On the eve of World hepatitis day a big rally was taken out by Health Department Shikarpur and in this relation a camp was also set up for screening hepatitis at Ganga Bai Government Hospital Shikarpur, here on Friday.
The rally was led by Deputy Commissioner Shikarpur Syed Hassan Raza, Dr Shoukat Memon, Dr Naila and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shoukat, the In-charge Hepatitis Program Shikarpur said that under the Hepatitis Prevention & Control Program [HPCP] Chief Minister’s Initiative for Hepatitis Free Sindh program was started in 2009 to cope with fatal disease and a large number of patients have been screened and provided with free medicine.
Also, he said that the main reason of spreading of this disease is lack of awareness amongst the people in this regard on the behest of health department we have arranged a free screening camp for male and one other camp for women and children at Ganga Bai Hospital so that they could take preventive steps to save their lives from fatal disease adding Sindh are suffering from this dangerous disease which is according to experts, more dangerous than AIDS adding the reason of spreading this disease is using poor and risky equipment during dental treatment, re-use of shaving blades and sharing of toothbrush and blood transfusion and other, he concluded.
